BDE: Reb Fishel Sofer, z”l

We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Yechezkel Eliezer Mordechai Ephraim Fishel Sofer of Kiryas Yoel. He was 68 years of age, and had been unwell in recent years. 

The niftar hailed from Toronto, and was the son of Reb Yosef Yehuda Sofer. He was named for his paternal grandfather, Rav Yechezkel Eliezer Mordechai Ephraim Fishel Sofer, zt”l, Hy”d, ABD Meisha, and hailed from a long and illustrious line of Rabbonim in Hungary. 

He was the son-in-law of Rav Shmuel Kraus, zt”l. 

The niftar resided in Kiryas Yoel, and was known as a great ba’al tzedakah, and always had guests in his home. He was among the mispalelim in Beis Hamedrash Toldos Aaron, and was always among the first in beis medrash. 

Sadly, he was greatly affected by the Covid pandemic, and never fully recovered from its effects. 

Reb Fishel suffered a heart attack on Sunday and passed away. The Levaya will take place at 2:30 this afternoon in front of Beis Medrash Ateres Zekeinim in Kiryas Yoel.
